Biography

Robert Lawrenson is an actor and voice artist whose work spans British and North American film, television and video games. Audiences know him as Declan MacRae in 3 seasons of the sci-fi series Sanctuary, and for appearances in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Zoo, Supernatural, Alcatraz, Primeval: New World and When Calls the Heart (2025), playing Toddy Davis.

His career began in British television with recurring roles in Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Heartbeat & Where the Heart Is and guest star roles including Holby City, Doctors, The Royal and Fat Friends. After relocating to Vancouver, he has also appeared in feature films including Underworld: Awakening (opposite Kate Beckinsale) and several TV movies for Hallmark, Lifetime & Syfy.

As a voice artist, Robert portrayed General John Pitcairn in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III and Coach Butler in EA’s FIFA “The Journey” trilogy (FIFA 17, 18 and 19). He has also narrated documentary and commercial work for BBC, CBC and global brands as well as audiobook work.

Originally from Blackpool, England, he began performing in youth and musical theatre before studying Drama, Film & Television (BA Hons) in York. He later performed in several leading roles at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
